Up in Smoke – L. Jennings (Practical Card Magic Collection)

Up in Smoke is a collection of refined card effects by Larry Jennings, known for his elegant handling, strong construction, and practical approach to close-up magic. The material reflects Jennings’ focus on clear effects built from solid technique and subtle handling.

The book presents a series of well-structured routines covering classic and modern card plots, including vanish, transposition, estimation, and oil-and-water themes. Each effect is designed to be both deceptive and performable, with an emphasis on natural handling and strong magical impact.

Highlights include Up in Smoke, where a selected four-of-a-kind seemingly vanishes after a visual “puff of smoke” and is then produced from separate pockets. A Handy Transformation presents a direct and surprising packet-based change under the spectator’s hands, while Estimated Toss combines estimation technique with a visual transformation climax.

Further routines include Oil and Water, K.J.V. Oil and Water, Flawed Transposition, New Outstanding Triumph, Tahoe Triumph, and Hip Pocket Prediction, each offering a different angle on established card magic plots, refined through Jennings’ signature approach.

The material emphasizes strong, clear effects with practical methods, making it suitable for close-up performers who value both structure and impact.

You receive with Up in Smoke a focused collection of card magic routines built around clarity, efficiency, and strong audience reactions.
