Cerca by Roberto Mansilla – A New Perspective on Elegant Close-Up Magic

From the creator of Naypes comes Cerca, a carefully crafted book exploring artistic and elegant close-up magic from the unique perspective of Roberto Mansilla.

More than a collection of magic routines, Cerca offers insight into Roberto’s creative process, inspirations, and approach to performance. Across 208 pages, readers will discover not only practical techniques and routines, but also the stories and ideas behind the magic.

Influenced by the Spanish School of Magic, Roberto Mansilla presents a selection of sophisticated close-up routines designed for formal performance settings. The book includes his personal interpretations of classic magic plots, such as “Up the Sleeve”, a refined approach to the Card-to-Pocket plot that creates a strong opening effect, and “Harmony”, his three-card interpretation of the classic Stop Trick, combining a simple method with a poetic presentation.

Cerca goes beyond card magic. Roberto explores familiar objects and classic themes with fresh ideas, including “This Is Not a Sponge Ball Routine”, a sponge ball routine designed for formal close-up performances, and a thoughtful handling of the Color Changing Knives, inspired by the work of masters such as René Lavand and Arturo de Ascanio.

The book also includes Haikus — a collection of short magical pieces created for intimate moments rather than full performances. These concise effects reflect Roberto’s focus on simplicity, creativity, and meaningful presentations.

Each routine is accompanied by background information, including its origins, inspiration, and purpose. This gives readers a deeper understanding of the thinking behind Roberto Mansilla’s magic and his approach to creating memorable close-up experiences.
