Self-Working ACAAN by Abhinav Bothra – Mixed Media Download

An impossible card-at-any-number effect that your audience performs entirely by themselves!

Imagine two spectators dealing cards independently, making their own choices, and arriving at two cards that match perfectly in both value and color. The cards immediately before and after their selections don't match — making the final coincidence even more astonishing!

Self-Working ACAAN by Abhinav Bothra offers a clever, hands-off approach to the classic Any Card At Any Number plot. The routine is designed to be effortless to perform, with no memorization, mathematical calculations, or improvisation required.

The Main Effect

A regular deck of 52 playing cards is divided into two halves of 26 cards each:

• One half contains the Spades and Hearts.

• The other half contains the Clubs and Diamonds.

Each half contains cards from Ace through King in both red and black suits.

The first participant deals through one half of the deck and stops wherever they wish. They turn over a card and then deal again according to the value of that card, creating an apparently random final selection.

The second participant takes the other half and deals to the same value.

Both selected cards are placed aside. When the surrounding cards are revealed, they do not match. Yet the two freely arrived-at selections match perfectly in both color and value!

The result is a surprising coincidence that appears to happen entirely through the participants' own decisions.

An Honest Note

The main Self-Working ACAAN routine and both bonus routines require a suitable surface on which to deal the cards.

The main effect is accessible even to beginners with limited experience. However, the bonus routines require some additional performance experience, particularly the version involving equivoque and improvisation.

If you want a practical ACAAN effect that places the audience at the center of the magic, Self-Working ACAAN by Abhinav Bothra is an excellent addition to your repertoire.
