FAST MATH by Lars La Ville
Magic Squares and Mental Calculation Systems
FAST MATH by Lars La Ville combines classic magic square principles with practical modern methods for mentalism and number magic. Across approximately 90 minutes, Lars La Ville teaches several powerful systems that allow you to create impressive magic square demonstrations quickly and confidently.
The project focuses on routines where a spectator freely names a number and every row, column, and additional combinations match the chosen total. The explanations range from straightforward methods requiring little memory work to more advanced presentations involving blindfold demonstrations and photographic memory effects.
FAST MATH by Lars La Ville is suitable for close-up, parlour, and mentalism performances and offers material for both beginners and experienced performers. The included systems are designed for practical use and fast calculation while maintaining a strong audience impact.
Included Routines
FAST MATH – Face Up
A spectator names any number from 34 to 99. You quickly deal 16 cards into a 4x4 grid, and every row adds up to the named number. Additional combinations, including the corners and center, also match the total. Includes methods with and without memory work.
FAST MATH – Face Down
A face-down handling inspired by an idea from Dan Harlan. The cards are revealed one by one while each row successfully totals the spectator’s chosen number.
Photographic Memory Demonstration
A combination of number magic and memory demonstration. The spectator shuffles the cards, and the performer apparently memorizes all positions before correctly naming the totals while blindfolded.
Blindfolded Square
An advanced blindfold routine where the spectator writes numbers into a marked grid following the magician’s instructions. In the end, all rows total the named number.
Magic Square
A classic magic square routine inspired by Harry Lorayne and enhanced with Lars La Ville’s fast calculation system. Suitable for numbers between 33 and 201. Includes versions with and without memory work.
Impromptu Magic Square
A practical impromptu version using only a Sharpie and Post-it notes. Ideal for casual or spontaneous performances.
